Canvas, like denim is a versatile fabrics that can be made into anything. Wax canvas is a special case and further forward the fabric into new heights. By adding a wax coating on to canvas, canvas becomes water proof or stain proof. You can pretty much take it anywhere, especially desirable when travelling to the desert or cruising in the seas.
The disadvantage of adding a wax coating onto canvas is that it becomes heavier and you have to break them in, like leather. Also the wax does disappear overtime but not as quick and it’s easy to apply another coating. You can by a wax bar for cheap.
You see many bags that are made of wax canvas, if you do see one, at least you’ll know it will perform.
